I can't replicate either problem, but it seems likely some of the
machines got in a weird state when I installed the new code yesterday.
Can you check to see if you have the same problem on more than one
machine?

Re: your subsequent email, permstart isn't supposed to create any
jobs, it's just the first job run when you do a permutation test
(actually, I'm not sure if we're even still using it, it's almost
obsolete), and you shouldn't need to run it yourself.
